Location

The Hyatt Regency Orlando stretches along International Drive, connected directly to the Orange County Convention Center — the second largest in the country. The Property

With 1,641 rooms, the Hyatt Regency Orlando is a convention hotel on a grand scale. What sets it apart from many properties in this category is the surprisingly stylish design — the public spaces and rooms have a polished, contemporary feel that belies the building’s massive footprint. The pool area is resort-caliber, and the bar scene offers a lively social atmosphere in the evenings. The Pharmacopia bath amenities add a nice boutique touch.

Hyatt King Room

Rooms are clean, modern, and well-designed with quality bedding and contemporary furnishings. The double queen configuration works well for families visiting Orlando’s theme parks. The embedded TV in the bathroom mirror is a fun technology touch that kids particularly enjoy. Overall room quality exceeds expectations for a convention hotel.

Bathroom

Features the Pharmacopia amenity line and a clean, modern design with the notable bathroom mirror TV. Well-maintained and functional with quality fixtures.

Restaurants & Bars

Fiorenzo Italian Steakhouse

The signature restaurant offers quality steaks and Italian-American fare in an upscale setting. A reliable dinner option that saves the trip to I-Drive restaurants.

Bar & Lounge

The main bar area draws convention crowds and leisure travelers alike, creating a lively social scene. The space is well-designed and the cocktail program is competent.

Bottom Line

The Hyatt Regency Orlando is a convention hotel that punches above its weight class. The design quality, pool area, and amenities would be impressive in a boutique hotel — in a 1,641-room property, they’re remarkable. For convention attendees, the direct connection to the OCCC is unbeatable. For leisure travelers, the I-Drive location and Hyatt loyalty benefits make this a practical Orlando base. It’s not a theme park resort, but it’s one of the best large-format hotels in Orlando.

Value

Cash rates typically range from $150–350 per night. As a Category 4 property, award nights run 12,000–18,000 points.

At 15,000 points against a $225 cash rate, that’s approximately 1.50 cents per point — solid value approaching the 1.8 cpp sweet spot. During major conventions when cash rates spike, the points value can be exceptional.

Location

The Hilton Barbados Resort commands the entirety of Needham’s Point, a peninsula jutting into the Caribbean Sea just five minutes from downtown Bridgetown. The resort grounds include the 17th-century ruins of Charles Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lending historical gravitas to the tropical setting. Grantley Adams International Airport is 20 minutes away.

The Property

With 342 rooms, two white-sand beaches, two outdoor pools, a full-service spa, and a gym, the Hilton Barbados operates as a comprehensive beach resort. Every room features a private balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows with Caribbean ocean views — the peninsula location means there’s no such thing as a bad view here. The property does show some age in places, with ongoing refurbishment addressing this, but the setting itself is spectacular.

Hilton Ocean View Room

The rooms offer stunning Caribbean vistas from private balconies, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with tropical light. Furnishings are comfortable and functional, delivering the dependable Hilton standard. The ocean views are the star attraction and they deliver consistently across the property.

Bathroom

Standard Hilton fixtures and amenities in a functional layout. Clean and well-maintained, if not particularly memorable. The basics are covered competently.

Restaurants & Bars

The Grille

The main dining restaurant offers Caribbean and international cuisine with ocean views. The quality is solid resort fare — fresh seafood is the highlight, as you’d expect on a Caribbean island.

Bottom Line

The Hilton Barbados wins primarily on location — the Needham’s Point peninsula is genuinely special, and having UNESCO ruins on your resort grounds is a unique selling point. The property could use continued investment in its hardware, but the setting, the beaches, and the convenience of Hilton Honors benefits make it a compelling Caribbean option. For Diamond members, the upgrade potential and complimentary breakfast sweeten the deal.

Value

Cash rates typically range from $200–500 per night. Hilton Honors award nights start around 50,000–70,000 points.

At 60,000 points against a $350 cash rate, that’s approximately 0.58 cents per point — solid Hilton value above the 0.4 cpp threshold. Peak Caribbean season pushes the value higher.

Review: Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, Grand Cayman

Kimpton Seafire reception
em>Kimpton’s flagship Caribbean resort on Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach delivers boutique luxury, exceptional dining, and one of IHG’s best points redemptions.

Location

The Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa occupies a prime stretch of Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman’s western coast. The beach here is pristine — powdery white sand and crystalline turquoise water that lives up to Seven Mile Beach’s reputation as one of the Caribbean’s finest. The resort is about 20 minutes from Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) and within reach of George Town’s shops and restaurants.

Phone: +1 345-746-0000

Address: 60 Tanager Way, Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman KY1-1303

View on Google Maps

The Property

Opened in November 2016, the Kimpton Seafire is a 266-room resort that marked Kimpton’s first foray into both the Caribbean and the luxury resort category. The property succeeds on both fronts. The design is contemporary and airy, making excellent use of the oceanfront setting with open layouts and natural materials. The pool areas are well-designed and family-friendly, and the spa facilities provide a genuine retreat. Complimentary activities round out the resort experience.

The resort’s manageable size — 266 rooms is modest by Caribbean resort standards — creates an intimate atmosphere where personalized service feels natural rather than forced.

Ocean View Room

The rooms are spacious and stylishly appointed with a contemporary coastal design that feels fresh and inviting. Premium ocean view rooms offer stunning Caribbean vistas. The Kimpton touches are evident — quality design, thoughtful amenities, and a sense of personality that distinguishes this from generic resort properties. The overall room condition is excellent.

Bathroom

The bathroom features quality fixtures, a walk-in shower, and upscale toiletries. Spacious and well-designed, consistent with the resort’s luxury positioning. The finishing touches and attention to detail reflect Kimpton’s boutique sensibility.

Restaurants & Bars

Ave Restaurant

The resort’s signature restaurant offers elevated Caribbean-inspired cuisine in a stunning oceanfront setting. The quality goes well beyond typical resort dining — this is a restaurant that could stand on its own in any major dining city. Fresh seafood and local ingredients feature prominently.

Coccoloba

The beachside bar and restaurant handles casual daytime dining and sunset cocktails with equal aplomb. The setting is idyllic, and the food quality exceeds what you’d expect from a pool-adjacent venue.

Bottom Line

The Kimpton Seafire is one of the finest resort properties in the IHG portfolio and a genuine standout on Seven Mile Beach. The combination of Kimpton’s boutique personality, excellent dining, a world-class beach, and the resort’s intimate scale creates an experience that competes favorably with independent luxury resorts at significantly higher price points. The $80/night resort fee is worth noting — it’s not waived on award stays, which slightly diminishes the points value proposition. But the overall experience is exceptional, and for IHG One Rewards members, this represents one of the best uses of points in the Caribbean.

Value

Cash rates at the Kimpton Seafire typically range from $400–900 per night depending on season. IHG One Rewards award nights are priced around 70,000 points per night. Note the $80/night resort fee applies to both cash and award stays.

At 70,000 points against a $600 cash rate (after accounting for the $80 resort fee on both), you’re looking at approximately 0.74 cents per point — well above the 0.5 cpp threshold for strong IHG value. During peak Caribbean season (December–April) when cash rates exceed $800, the value climbs above 1.0 cpp. This is one of IHG’s aspirational redemptions — the kind of property that makes collecting IHG points worthwhile.

The breakfast menu features standouts like breakfast burritos and cortaditos with Nutella — a distinctly Miami touch. Bottom Line

The Hyatt Centric Brickell is a strong urban lifestyle hotel that benefits from its location in one of Miami’s most dynamic neighborhoods. The rooftop pool elevates it above many competitors, and the Hyatt Centric brand’s focus on local character gives it more personality than generic business hotels in the area. Value

Cash rates typically range from $175–400 per night. As a Category 5 property, award nights run 17,000–26,000 points under dynamic pricing.

Hotel Seville NoMad Lobby Lounge

Built in 1903, the Hotel Seville is a Beaux Arts landmark that has been beautifully reimagined as a 337-room boutique hotel in Hyatt’s Unbound Collection. The property retains its historic architectural character while incorporating contemporary design elements — the result is a hotel with genuine personality and a sense of place that newer builds simply cannot replicate.

The hotel features a hidden speakeasy (Il Bar) that adds an element of discovery, and the pet-friendly policy (dogs up to 50 lbs welcome) reflects the NoMad neighborhood’s personality. The lobby and common areas feature jewel-toned design elements that complement the building’s original bones.

Queen Deluxe Room

The rooms at the Hotel Seville are cozy by New York standards — which is to say they make efficient use of every square foot. The design is clean and contemporary with touches of historic character, quality bedding, and a quiet, well-insulated atmosphere that’s notable for a Manhattan hotel. The room condition was excellent throughout the stay.

Bathroom

The bathroom is compact but thoughtfully designed, with modern fixtures and quality toiletries. For a heritage building conversion, the plumbing and water pressure were excellent. Clean and well-maintained throughout.

Restaurants & Bars

Scarpetta

Hotel Seville NoMad Scarpetta Dining

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Scarpetta, is a legitimate fine-dining destination that would be noteworthy even without a hotel attached. The Italian cuisine is exceptional, and the restaurant has earned a devoted following among both hotel guests and New York locals. For Globalist members, the breakfast experience here elevates the entire stay. This is not your typical hotel restaurant — it’s one of the reasons to choose this property.

Il Bar

The hidden speakeasy-style bar offers cocktails in an intimate, jewel-toned setting that feels like a genuine discovery rather than a hotel amenity. It’s a perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks or a nightcap.

Bottom Line

The Hotel Seville NoMad is a strong entry in Hyatt’s Unbound Collection and one of the better boutique hotel options in Manhattan for World of Hyatt members. The combination of a landmark building, a prime NoMad location, and Scarpetta restaurant gives it a distinctive identity that stands out in New York’s crowded luxury hotel market. Rooms lean small (this is Manhattan, after all), but the overall quality, character, and dining excellence more than compensate. For points travelers who appreciate a hotel with personality over one with square footage, the Seville is an excellent choice.

Value

Cash rates at the Hotel Seville NoMad typically range from
50–500 per night depending on season. As a World of Hyatt Unbound Collection property, award nights run approximately 15,000–25,000 points under dynamic pricing.

At 20,000 points against a $350 cash rate, you’re looking at approximately 1.75 cents per point — close to the 1.8 cpp sweet spot for Hyatt points. During peak periods or when booking at higher cash rates, the value exceeds that threshold comfortably. Factor in Globalist breakfast at Scarpetta — a legitimate $40+ value per person — and the effective cpp for elite members is exceptional.

Review: Grand Hyatt Bali (Grand Suite)

A sprawling beachfront resort in Nusa Dua with Balinese village charm, five pools, and one of the best points values in Southeast Asia.

Location

The Grand Hyatt Bali is nestled within the ITDC (Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation) complex in Nusa Dua, Bali’s purpose-built luxury resort enclave on the southeastern coast. The Nusa Dua setting is more manicured and resort-focused than areas like Seminyak or Ubud, which suits families and those seeking a relaxed beach holiday. The beach at sunrise is genuinely spectacular, and the ITDC complex provides a secure, walkable environment.

Phone: +62 361 771234

Address: Kawasan Wisata Nusa Dua ITDC, Nusa Dua 80363, Bali, Indonesia

View on Google Maps

The Property

With 636 rooms, suites, and villas spread across four distinct “villages,” the Grand Hyatt Bali is a resort of genuine scale. The design draws on contemporary Balinese architecture, with lush tropical gardens connecting the villages and creating an immersive sense of place. Five swimming pools, a full-service spa, and direct beach access mean you could easily spend an entire vacation without leaving the property grounds.

The resort’s sprawling layout can mean long walks between your room and dining venues, but the gardens are beautiful enough that the walks feel more like pleasant strolls than inconveniences.

Grand Suite

The suite offers generous space with a distinct entry corridor leading to the bathroom and dressing area, a comfortable bedroom, a dining room, and a desk workspace. The contemporary Balinese design incorporates local materials and motifs without feeling themed or contrived. The overall condition is well-maintained, and the suite layout provides genuine living space — not just a big room, but thoughtfully separated areas.

Bathroom

The bathroom is accessed via a corridor that doubles as a dressing area, providing a luxury-resort sense of space and flow. Fixtures are quality, the shower is spacious, and the overall finish is consistent with the Grand Hyatt brand. Well-maintained and comfortable.

Restaurants & Bars

Breakfast

The breakfast spread is extensive, covering Asian and international cuisines with live cooking stations. Highlights include quality pastries, a well-curated cheese and olive selection, and a cooler section with fresh juices and yogurts. For families, options like chocolate chip pancakes keep younger travelers happy. The breakfast experience is one of the resort’s strong points.

Balinese Dinner Dance

The resort hosts a Balinese dinner dance show — a buffet dinner accompanied by traditional Balinese dancers. The buffet features noodles, rice dishes, pork, and a broad selection of Indonesian and international fare. The dance performance adds genuine cultural flavor and makes for a memorable evening, particularly for first-time visitors to Bali.

Evening Lounge

The Globalist lounge provides evening canapés including fresh vegetables and light bites — a pleasant pre-dinner option for World of Hyatt elite members.

Bottom Line

The Grand Hyatt Bali delivers a comprehensive resort experience at a price point that feels almost too good to be true, especially on points. The Nusa Dua location won’t appeal to travelers seeking Bali’s countercultural energy, but for families and those wanting a relaxed, well-managed beach holiday with excellent facilities, it’s hard to beat. The scale of the property means it never feels crowded even at capacity, and the Balinese design elements give it character that generic resort properties lack. A strong choice for a Bali family vacation, and an outstanding World of Hyatt redemption.

Value

Cash rates at the Grand Hyatt Bali typically range from $150–350 per night depending on room type and season. As a Category 2 World of Hyatt property, award nights require just 3,500–8,000 points per night.

At 6,500 points against a $200 cash rate, you’re looking at an extraordinary 3.08 cents per point — well above the 1.8 cpp threshold and one of the best Hyatt points values in the entire portfolio. This is the kind of redemption that makes the World of Hyatt program legendary among points enthusiasts. Even at the higher end of dynamic pricing, the cpp value remains exceptional. If you have Hyatt points and want a Bali beach vacation, this should be one of your first calls.

Lobby doors

Opened in 2021 as part of the $4.3 billion Resorts World development, the Conrad Las Vegas is the world’s largest Conrad with 1,496 rooms and suites. The property shares the Resorts World complex with a Hilton and a Crockfords LXR hotel, giving Hilton Honors members three tiers of accommodation under one massive roof.

One of the property’s design highlights is that you can access your room and the pool areas without walking through the casino floor — a thoughtful touch that many Las Vegas hotels lack. The pool complex is resort-caliber, and the overall design is sleek and modern throughout.

Conrad King Room

The rooms are ultra-stylish by Las Vegas standards, with modern furnishings, quality bedding, and a contemporary design language that feels premium without being ostentatious. The room layout is efficient and well-thought-out, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing Strip views from the higher floors. The hardware is still relatively new, so everything feels fresh and well-maintained.

Bathroom

Mojave toiletries in shower

Bathrooms continue the modern aesthetic with clean lines, quality fixtures, and a layout that maximizes the available space. The finishes are consistent with the Conrad brand’s luxury positioning, and everything was in excellent condition during our stay.

Restaurants & Bars

Dawg House Sports Bar

The Dawg House serves as both a sports bar and sportsbook, and it’s where Gold and Diamond Hilton Honors members can apply their $25 per day food and beverage credit. The menu leans toward hearty bar fare — the club sandwich with truffle fries is a solid choice. Fair warning on Las Vegas pricing: that club sandwich runs about $20, eggs will set you back around $8, and even Rice Krispies come in at $10. The F&B credit helps, but don’t expect to eat cheaply even with elite status benefits.

Bottom Line

Room view

The Conrad Las Vegas delivers a polished, modern Las Vegas experience with the added benefit of Hilton Honors integration. The north Strip location is a trade-off — you gain a newer, less congested resort experience but sacrifice walkability to the central Strip. The property itself is well-designed and the rooms are genuinely impressive for a hotel of this scale. For Hilton loyalists, it’s the best points hotel option on the Las Vegas Strip, and the Diamond benefits (F&B credit, potential upgrades) add meaningful value to any stay.

Value

Cash rates at the Conrad Las Vegas vary wildly with Las Vegas demand, ranging from $150 on quiet weeknights to $400+ during major events and conventions. Hilton Honors award nights start around 35,000 points per night.

At 35,000 points against a typical $200 weeknight rate, you’re looking at approximately 0.57 cents per point — well above the 0.4 cpp threshold. During high-demand periods when cash rates spike, the points value can exceed 1.0 cpp, making the Conrad one of the better opportunistic Hilton redemptions in the U.S. The $25 daily F&B credit for Gold/Diamond members sweetens the deal further.

Restaurants & Bars

Breakfast

Breakfast at the Conrad Bangkok is routinely described as one of the highlights of any stay. The spread is extensive, covering both international and Thai cuisine with quality and variety that puts many competitor hotels to shame. The live cooking stations, fresh pastries, and wide selection of Asian dishes make this a breakfast worth waking up for — and for Diamond members, it’s complimentary.

Liu Restaurant

The hotel’s signature Chinese restaurant, Liu, is a legitimate dining destination in its own right. The cuisine goes well beyond typical hotel Chinese food, and the restaurant frequently features in discussions of Bangkok’s best Chinese dining. Worth a visit even if you’re not staying at the hotel.

Bottom Line

The Conrad Bangkok is a Hilton portfolio stalwart that continues to deliver strong value and consistent quality. The recent renovation has addressed the property’s only real weakness — aging hardware — while preserving the exceptional service culture and dining quality that have long been its calling cards. The executive lounge is a genuine asset, the breakfast is outstanding, and the pool provides resort-style relaxation in the middle of Bangkok. For Hilton loyalists visiting Bangkok, the Conrad remains the flagship choice, and deservedly so.

Value

Cash rates at the Conrad Bangkok typically range from $120–250 per night, representing excellent value for a five-star international hotel. Hilton Honors award nights start around 35,000–40,000 points per night.

At 40,000 points against a $180 cash rate, you’re looking at approximately 0.45 cents per point — above the 0.4 cpp threshold where Hilton points beat paying cash. Factor in Diamond benefits — complimentary breakfast, executive lounge access, and potential upgrade — and the effective value climbs considerably. The Conrad Bangkok is one of those properties where the Diamond experience meaningfully exceeds the standard guest experience, making it an especially compelling redemption for Hilton elites.

Roof bubbles

Housed in a converted 1930s industrial building, the Canopy Paris Trocadéro opened in May 2021 as a 123-room boutique hotel. The conversion preserved much of the building’s original Art Deco character while introducing the Canopy brand’s locally-inspired design ethos. The entrance and lobby set an intimate, residential tone — this feels more like a well-appointed Parisian townhouse than a chain hotel.

The crown jewel is the rooftop terrace with its bar, offering direct views of the Eiffel Tower. It’s one of those spots that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a secret Paris, and it alone would justify choosing this property over more anonymous options in the area.

Canopy Room

The rooms are modern and thoughtfully designed, with quality furnishings and a warm color palette that complements the building’s heritage character. A desk and TV setup provides functional workspace, while the coffee station and wardrobe area are neatly integrated. Some rooms feature balconies with Parisian rooftop views — worth requesting if available. The 123-room size means the property maintains an intimate feel that larger Parisian hotels cannot match.

Bathroom

Suite shower

The bathroom features a proper bathtub — a welcome amenity that many newer European hotels have abandoned in favor of showers only. The fixtures are modern and well-maintained, and the toiletry selection is appropriate for the property’s positioning. The overall bathroom experience is comfortable and well-executed.

Restaurants & Bars

Breakfast

Breakfast at the Canopy Trocadéro leans into the Parisian experience with excellent baked goods and boulangerie-quality pastries that would hold their own at any neighborhood bakery. A chef-attended egg station produces made-to-order options, and the spread includes cereals, French toast, and fresh fruit alongside the expected Continental fare. The quality of the baked goods particularly stands out — this is Paris, and the hotel clearly takes its bread and pastries seriously.

Bubble Bar (Rooftop)

The rooftop Bubble Bar is the property’s social centerpiece, offering cocktails and drinks with that remarkable Eiffel Tower backdrop. It gets busy during peak hours, especially in warmer months, but the atmosphere is relaxed and the views are genuinely spectacular. An essential part of the Canopy Trocadéro experience.

Bottom Line

Pancakes breakfast

The Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadéro is a standout in the Hilton portfolio and one of the more compelling hotel options in Paris for points travelers. The converted 1930s building gives it character that purpose-built hotels lack, the Eiffel Tower views from the rooftop bar are unforgettable, and the Trocadéro location hits the sweet spot between accessibility and neighborhood charm. Staff consistently earn high marks for attentiveness. For Hilton loyalists visiting Paris, this should be near the top of your list.

Value

Cash rates at the Canopy Paris Trocadéro typically range from €250–500 per night depending on season. Hilton Honors award nights start around 80,000 points per night under dynamic pricing, with peak dates climbing higher.

At 80,000 points against a €300/night rate (~$325 USD), you’re looking at approximately 0.41 cents per point — just above the 0.4 cpp threshold where Hilton points beat cash. During high season when cash rates push past €400, the points value improves to 0.5+ cpp, making this one of the better European Hilton redemptions. Factor in Diamond breakfast benefits and the rooftop bar experience, and the overall value proposition is strong.

The Andaz check-in experience here is characteristically warm and conversational. Staff provided a thorough overview of the property and neighborhood recommendations, setting the tone for a stay that feels more personal than transactional.

Andaz Room

The rooms feature contemporary decor with mood lighting that gives the space a warm, inviting atmosphere. The design is clean and modern, with quality furnishings and thoughtful touches throughout. The bed is comfortable and well-appointed, and the overall room condition was excellent. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide good natural light and city views depending on your room assignment.

Bathroom

The bathroom continues the contemporary design theme with modern fixtures and quality amenities. The shower is well-designed with good water pressure, and the toiletry selection is a step above standard hotel offerings. Clean, well-maintained, and perfectly adequate for the hotel’s five-star positioning.

Restaurants & Bars

The Andaz Xintiandi boasts an impressive food and beverage program with two restaurants and three bars, making it a genuine dining destination within the Xintiandi neighborhood.

Hai Pai Restaurant

The on-site restaurant offers a compelling mix of local Shanghai cuisine and international options. The quality is consistent with the hotel’s positioning, and the setting is stylish without being stuffy.

Bars

With three distinctive bar concepts on-site, the Andaz provides ample options for evening drinks without needing to leave the property. Each bar has its own character and drink menu, catering to different moods and occasions.

Bottom Line

The Andaz Xintiandi Shanghai justifies its reputation as one of the standout Hyatt properties in China. The Xintiandi location is superb, the design is genuinely impressive, and the food and beverage offerings go well beyond the typical hotel restaurant. Some reviewers note occasional service inconsistencies, which is not uncommon for larger properties in China, but the overall experience is polished and memorable. For travelers seeking a stylish, well-located base in Shanghai with Hyatt loyalty benefits, the Andaz Xintiandi is an easy recommendation.

Value

Cash rates at the Andaz Xintiandi typically range from $130–250 per night, representing solid value for a five-star Shanghai hotel. As a Category 4 World of Hyatt property, award nights run 12,000–18,000 points under dynamic pricing.

At a standard redemption of 15,000 points against a $180 cash rate, you’re looking at approximately 1.20 cents per point — below the 1.8 cpp sweet spot for Hyatt points. The value improves during peak periods or when booking larger room categories. Points + Cash rates of 7,500 points plus $100 can offer better value when cash rates are elevated. Still, the Andaz Xintiandi is more about the experience than about squeezing maximum cpp from your World of Hyatt balance.
