Location
The Westin Alexandria Old Town sits on Courthouse Square, steps from the King Street–Old Town Metro station on the Blue and Yellow lines. This puts Washington, DC within a quick 15-minute Metro ride. The charming streets of Old Town Alexandria — packed with independent restaurants, boutiques, and waterfront promenades — are right outside the door. The Potomac River waterfront is a pleasant walk east along King Street. Reagan National Airport is just two Metro stops away, making this an excellent option for short business trips to the DC area.
The Property
The Westin Alexandria is a modern high-rise hotel that blends into Old Town’s mix of historic and contemporary architecture. The lobby is spacious and contemporary with Westin’s signature white tea scent. A well-equipped WestinWORKOUT fitness center, an indoor pool, and a business center serve the property’s business traveler clientele. The hotel connects to several restaurants at street level and is surrounded by Old Town’s walkable grid of dining and shopping options.
Check-In
Check-in was efficient and professional. Marriott Bonvoy status was recognized with a room upgrade and late checkout. The front desk provided a useful walking map of Old Town with restaurant recommendations highlighted — a nice touch.
Deluxe King
The Deluxe King room is comfortably sized with Westin’s Heavenly Bed — arguably one of the best hotel beds in the business — as the centerpiece. The room features a large work desk, ergonomic chair, Keurig coffee maker, and 55-inch smart TV. Higher floors offer views toward the Potomac or the Alexandria skyline. The decor is clean and contemporary, nothing remarkable but inoffensive and comfortable. The Heavenly Bed really is the star — it’s genuinely difficult to have a bad night’s sleep on one.
Bathroom
The bathroom features a walk-in shower with a rain showerhead, single vanity with granite countertop, and Westin’s White Tea bath amenities. Clean, modern, and well-maintained — standard Westin quality throughout.
Restaurants & Bars
On-Site Dining
The hotel’s food and beverage options are adequate but not a highlight. For breakfast, the restaurant serves a standard buffet and à la carte options. However, Old Town Alexandria is one of the DC area’s best restaurant neighborhoods — walk five minutes in any direction and you’ll find excellent independent options for every meal. Let the location do the culinary heavy lifting here.
Bottom Line
The Westin Alexandria Old Town is a dependable choice for business travelers needing easy access to DC, or leisure travelers wanting to explore charming Old Town Alexandria. The Heavenly Bed, Metro proximity, and walkable location are the key selling points. It’s not a destination hotel, but it’s a smart, comfortable base in a wonderful neighborhood.

Cash rates typically range from $180–$300/night, with government rates often available given the DC proximity. As a Category 5 Marriott Bonvoy property, free nights cost approximately 30,000–40,000 points (dynamic pricing). At $220/night and 35,000 points, that’s 0.63 cents per point — above the 0.5cpp Marriott threshold. Points are a reasonable redemption here, especially during cherry blossom season when DC-area hotel rates spike.
