A convenient airport hotel a four-minute shuttle ride from Pittsburgh International's new terminal, the Hyatt Regency PIT is still the only hotel on airport property — and still the easiest bed in the region for a 6 a.m. departure.

Location
The Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport sits on airport property on Aviation Avenue, and it is the only hotel that does. One important thing changed on 18 November 2025: PIT opened its $1.7 billion landside terminal and closed both the 1992 terminal and the automated people mover that used to link this hotel to the concourses. The walk-and-ride connection is gone. In its place is a complimentary 24/7 hotel shuttle that runs a private road to the new terminal in about four to five minutes — a change the Allegheny County Airport Authority formalised in a June 2025 settlement with the hotel’s owner that guarantees the service and compensates the property for the lost connection. Downtown Pittsburgh is a little over 20 miles east, roughly 25 minutes by car via I-376. Be aware that Hyatt’s own marketing copy in places still advertises “direct terminal connectivity”; the shuttle is what actually exists.
The Property
The Hyatt Regency PIT opened in 2000, was last renovated in 2023, and runs 338 rooms and suites over 11 stories — 160 kings, 156 doubles and 22 suites across Junior, Executive, Deluxe and Presidential tiers. The lobby is contemporary and efficient. It is designed for one thing — getting travelers to and from their flights with maximum comfort and minimum hassle — and it does that well.
Check-In
Check-in is quick and efficient. Globalist recognition is consistent, with upgrades to higher floors available. The staff is friendly and accustomed to guests with early flights and tight schedules.
Standard King
The Standard King room is clean and modern with a comfortable king bed, work desk, flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, and a coffee maker. The rooms are well-soundproofed — a critical feature for an airport hotel. The design is contemporary and functional, with enough comfort for a good night’s sleep before an early departure.
Bathroom
The bathroom is standard Hyatt with a walk-in shower, single vanity, and Pharmacopia amenities. Clean and functional. Some rooms have a tub/shower combo.
Restaurants & Bars
bellfarm Kitchen | Bar (Breakfast & Dinner)
bellfarm Kitchen | Bar sits on the lobby level and leans harder on provenance than an airport hotel needs to — the kitchen sources from more than two dozen regional farms, distilleries and purveyors. It serves a breakfast buffet and à la carte dinner. Breakfast is solid with eggs, bacon, pastries, and fruit. Dinner options include burgers, salads, and Pittsburgh-influenced fare. Convenient when you don’t want to trek to the terminal for food.
Amenities
The glass-enclosed indoor pool is the surprise here, and it comes with a dry sauna, a wet sauna and a jacuzzi — genuinely useful after a long-haul arrival. The StayFit fitness centre is open 24 hours and complimentary, with Life Fitness machines, treadmills, stair climbers, bikes, cable and free weights, resistance bands and mats. There is no spa. Event space runs to roughly 20,000 square feet across 20 rooms, the largest being the 17,445-square-foot Regency Ballroom, which is why you will often share the lobby with a conference. Self-parking is complimentary for overnight guests.
Getting There
The complimentary shuttle runs 24 hours in both directions and takes four to five minutes on a private airport road. Build in more buffer than the old people-mover connection required, particularly at the 5 a.m. rush. This is a genuinely remote location otherwise: The Pavilion at Star Lake is 10.6 miles away, Raccoon Creek State Park 13.3 miles, and the National Aviary and Heinz History Center both a shade over 20 miles east in the city. Without a car or a rideshare budget, the hotel and the terminal are your evening.
Bottom Line
The Hyatt Regency PIT is still the best airport hotel option in Pittsburgh, but the calculus changed in November 2025. Losing the people mover cost this hotel its single best feature, and the four-minute shuttle — while reliable and free — is not the same as walking to your gate. The rooms are clean and quiet, the pool and sauna complex is better than the category deserves, and the overall experience is smooth. It is not a destination hotel, but for an early-morning flight or late-night arrival, it is exactly what you need.
